WHAT IS SPF?

In Collaboration With maleskin.com

When we hear the term SPF, instantly the majority of us will think hot beach holidays with lots of sun-cream. Am I right? But SPF is far from your vacation sun protection, what about all year round? Ultraviolet rays can be damaging to your skin, even on days where the sky is full of clouds.

But what actually is SPF?

“SPF, or Sun Protection Factor, is a measure of how well a sunscreen will protect skin from UVB rays, the kind of radiation that causes sunburn, damages skin, and can contribute to skin cancer” – badgerbalm.com

Now I’ve been using SPF in my skincare for years, and although I could be better in apply daily SPF, some really cool products have been helping me to stay on top of my skincare game. Maleskin.com is a site I’ve been using for a long time now for my skincare and grooming products! If you’re a frequent reader of The G Edit, you’ll know I’ve had plenty of products from this site and can’t rave about it enough. Now when they came to me with some of Henri Lloyds new products, I was so excited to try them and see what they’re all about. When fashion brands diversify into skincare and beauty, I think it’s rare that one actually succeeds so I was pretty sceptical about trying these products. However, it wasn’t long before I knew I was onto a winner!

The Henri Lloyd Ocean Mineral Moisturiser, Sun Defence and Tinted Moisturiser all contain SPF 15, meaning additional protection when you leave the house, 365 days a year! After doing a touch of research, Henri Lloyd has designed their whole skincare range around protection and nourishment of men’s skin. By using deep sea minerals, anti-oxidants and essential oils in each formulation, they’ve completely stripped down each product looking at only quality and effective ingredients.

I’m especially loving their Tinted Moisturiser. It’s not a product that I’d usually go for, however, on application my acne scarring and uneven skin tone is totally concealed and my skin looks super healthy and refreshed. My skin actually feels like this for the entire day, so it’s perfect for the morning before work. I can have confidence that my face won’t dry up, especially in this cold weather. The cold weather can have a serious impact on your skin if it’s not protected, so it’s important to make sure you’re stocked up on quality gear! You can find the whole Henri Lloyd collection here.

Do you use SPF in your skincare? If so, what products are your favourites?
