5 WAYS TO BE MORE ATTRACTIVE
Photography: Gabriela Rago
I’ve been wanting to put this post together for a long time now and with it being Valentine’s Day, what better time to talk about how to become more attractive! Yes, more attractive. Now I’m not just talking about the way you look, but the way you present yourself as a person and with a few little tips and tricks, I can guarantee you’ll impress the one you’re taking out for dinner this evening.
Only one of these tips is about enhancing your physical appearance, because 90% of being attractive is down to who you are as a person and how you engage/interact with others. Before we start if you’re interested in this outfit, the shirt is from Weekday, the shoes are from Kurt Geiger and the ring Monica Vinader. Can I also just point out how stunning these flowers are?! I think I’ll be using flowers in every post from now on!
Be Observant and Engaged
As humans, we LOVE to talk about ourselves. It’s what we all do best but when you’re with the person you like, take a second to listen to what they’ve got to say. I was at a business conference the other week, and we were talking about interviews. Now one of the guys said, “has anyone heard of the 80/20 rule?”. I presumed it was something to do with data but the guy who was hosting the event said that when you’re in an interview, 80% of the talking should come from the interviewer and 20% from you!
Now, this whole principle applies to dating. Going back to the fact we love to talk about ourselves, if you observe and at the same time be engaged with the person you’re with, let them talk… it’s immediately comforting and you straight away look interested in what they’ve got to say. Use the word YOU instead of I, and show genuine interest in what they’re talking about.
Talking to people about our problems and concerns is natural, it’s like therapy, but there’s a place and a time. If you’re going for dinner this Valentine’s Day, make sure you leave your problems at home. There’s nothing worse than someone venting their frustrations when you’re trying to enjoy time together, so talk about positive things. This especially applies to new people you’re dating. Being negative will definitely become unattractive! Talk about your small accomplishments and what you’re excited about. Be passionate and bring a positive conversation to the table.
Oh, and smile! Smiling is contagious and makes you look a lot more attractive than frowning.
Have A Dream Or A Goal
There is nothing more attractive than someone who has ambition. A goal. A mission. Something they want to bring to the world. It all goes back to being passionate and that you have a dream! So talk about it. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time, 10 years time, 20 years time? This type of talk often leads to really interesting conversations where you can find so much out about the other person, so try to engage in intellectual conversation like this. If you have a dream that you want to share with the other person, that other person will immediately feel a lot more connected with you. If the girl/guy likes you, they’ll want to be on this journey with you.
Pay A Complement
Being complementary goes such a long way. Now I don’t mean super cringey statements that will make someone’s neck tingle, but simple comments that make someone feel a whole lot more special. Compliment them on what they’re wearing, or their scent. People love it when others say they smell nice! Again, if you’re trying to break the ice in a situation, a small, subtle complement not only takes the focus off you (referring back to my previous tip) but instantly makes the other person feel a lot more comfortable and valued. Sinceer complements also build trust and the more we build up others the more we’re also building up ourselves.
Grooming Is Essential
Now, one of the most important tips that can really make a good impression – GROOMING. Whether you’re going for the clean-cut look or a touch of stubble, a well-groomed Man is appreciated by every guy and gal. Don’t be shy to pluck the hair between your eyebrows (I recommend once every 7-10 days), or the spider’s legs coming from your nose. Make sure your nails and trimmed and you’ve taken care of your skin. Tidy up your facial hair and even a fresh haircut will be appreciated.
Finally… and most importantly, make sure you’re smelling good! I’m totally loving the Maison Margiela Replica Across Sands Eau de Parfum. It’s absolutely incredible and I’m a huge believer in a premium, really good fragrance goes a long way.
So there you go, 5 ways to become more attractive. What are your plans this Valentine’s Day?
