WHAT I’M CURRENTLY USING

September has definitely been the month of grooming for me, attending grooming events, trying new and exciting products and seeing a huge difference in my skin. It’s been a busy but exciting month. I’ve been using a variety of skincare/haircare/body care this month, from high-end to high street. It’s what I love doing and really takes me back to when I first launched The G Edit, as it was fundamentally built on testing and trialing skincare from all budgets. But finding the right skin care can be a tough one around this time of year. The weather really does start to make an impact, so finding the right products is key!

Let’s start off with the Bull Dog Original Shower Gel (£4.80). This is an absolute classic which helps nourish and protect the skin without drying it out or stripping the natural oils like a lot of men’s shower gels do. The formula itself is made up from seven essential oils: Rosemary Leaf, Bergamot Peel, Eucalyptus Peel, Peppermint, Basil, Litsea Cubeba Fruit, and Coriander Seed. When mixed with water, it lathers up and the aromatic scent is released. It’s very botanical but remains masculine and fresh. Whilst in the shower, I’ve also been using the Vitaman Face Mud Masque (£25.00). I’ve been applying this as soon as I get in so I can clean and exfoliate the rest of my body while it’s working its magic. After around 10 minutes I’ll wash this off and my skin feels firmer and softer. Definity one of my favourite products this season. I’d recommend using this mask twice a week. It’s become my Wednesday and Sunday ritual – love a good face mask!

Next up is shaving. For those of you who’ve been reading The G Edit a while, you’ll know my skin is an absolute nightmare for shaving. I tend to get quite a harsh shaving rash if I’m using a highly fragrant foam, various razors or the wrong post-shave balm. It’s a nightmare, but I’ve found two new products that work with my skin in harmony. Billy Jealousy is a brand I’ve come across only recently, and both products have really helped stop irritation and redness. First up I use the Billy Jealousy Shave Cream (£17.00), a smooth, silky formula that helps the blade glide over my skin. This is usually the part that really starts the flaring on my neck but due to its smooth texture, it helps the blade get a clean cut with no irritation. I then straight away apply the Billy Jealousy After-Shave Balm (£22.00) which cools the skin and releases Oat Kernel Extract throughout the day to lock in hydration and moisture. The feeling once applied is sensational!

I’m always on the lookout for new hair styling products, and right now I’m all over the Jack Black Gel Pomade (£20.00). When I’m on the hunt for a new styling product, it’s all about an easy style, matte finish, and lasting hold. This ticks all three boxes. It’s made from a combination of Vitamin B5 (perfect for thickening and retaining moisture) and natural oils from sage, grapefruit, lavender and green tea. I start off by washing my hair on a morning, blow drying it with a touch of volumising mouse before I apply the Jack Black Pomade. Once styled I’ll finish it off with some hairspray and there you have it! You only need a small amount of this product as a bit goes a long way. It’s also great for on the go. I took this on a recent London trip and fits perfect in my travel bag.

I mentioned earlier that I’ve been loving the Bull Dog Original Shower Gel (£4.80), well this product goes hand in hand. Once dry from the shower, I’ll apply the Bull Dog Original Body Lotion (£6.80) to lock in moisture and prep my skin for the day. I’ve been using this on a morning around my chest and arms. I’ll then move onto my morning skincare, and the Anthony Glycolic Facial Cleanser (£26.00) has been an absolute staple in my skincare this month. Glycolic Acid is something I’ve used for many years in my skincare. I’d say it was essential in my fight against acne when I was younger and still today keeps my skin blemish free! If you’re someone like me who get’s the odd spot, this product is what you need. It completely rejuvenates the skin, treating redness and toxins whilst removing any oil build up from during the night.
