AN ITALIAN FEAST FOR TWO

There’s nothing better than surprising your friends, whether that be a thoughtful gift, a party or even a meal for two. It was my best friends birthday the other day and with a little help from Tesco Direct, I had the perfect surprise for him. I decided to take Nathan for a 4-course meal and drinks at Zizzi Pizzaria, in the heart of Harrogate. I’d been to this restaurant a few times in the past and it was the perfect location for and a chance to celebrate, catch up and enjoy good food – something me and Nathan enjoy way too much.
The tasting experience was a gift package through Tesco Direct. They offer various experiences across the UK, from track days to spa retreats, fine dining and brewery tours. There’s literally hundreds of these experiences so there’s definitely something for everyone. Because me and Nathan LOVE to eat out, a tasting experience was perfect for him. Nathan didn’t actually know where we were going, so as we pulled up outside, he was over the moon and so excited to see what we were doing.
So what was on the menu? The experience was a 4-course meal, a glass of prosecco and wine for two. We were greeted by manager Alex, with two glasses of fizz at hand. While we were deciding what to eat, we were given delicious marinated olives and seasoned nuts to nibble on.
For starters, I had the amazing Three Cheese Fondue, with delicious crusty bread. This was incredible and really did set a high standard for the meal. The cheese came in a ceramic pot, all displayed on a rustic board. It was amazing! Nathan had a Goats Cheese Ravioli. Again, it looked delicious and considering all plates were empty once we finished, it was a successful start to the evening.
Next up for the main course, I couldn’t resist trying one of their Traditional Italian Pizzas called the Piccante Rustica. It had a variety of toppings including pepperoni, sausage, salami, roquito chillis, mozzarella and more! It was absolutely amazing and the portion size was huge! I had to cut the pizza in two and get a takeaway box for the rest. Nathan had a Green Goddess Super Salad, containing Tenderstem broccoli, cannellini beans, courgette ribbons, Isle of Wight mixed tomatoes, mixed leaves, green pesto with radish, pea shoots and toasted omega seeds. WOW!
Finally, to finish off the meal, I had a light and fluffy Lemon Panna Cotta. For those of you who don’t know, panna cotta is a sweetened cream mixed with gelatine to give it a jelly-like texture. It’s the perfect way to end a hearty meal as it’s light and not too rich. Nathan had a Sticky Chocolate and Praline Torte, rich, smooth and extremly tasty!
The evening was a success and it was great to spend some time catching up on life over an incredible meal. I highly recommend Tesco Direct Gift Experiences, it’s such a perfect and affordable way to give someone a gift that’s extra special. This 4-course taster meal was only £47! For 4 courses, a glass of wine and a glass of prosecco (for 2), I think that’s insane. But if food isn’t your thing, there’s plenty to choose from. Take a look by clicking here. These gifting experiences would be perfect for Father’s Day, an upcoming date to create amazing memories with Dad, Stepdad, Grandad… all the dads! I totally recommend a Driving Experience – I recently went on one in Leeds and it was so much fun!
A huge thank you to Tesco Direct for making Nathan’s birthday surprise a fantastic evening!
