Afternoon tea has always been something that’s right up my street. Artisan deserts, precision cut sandwiches and a pot of loose leaf tea. Can anything sound more appealing? Last week I took a trip to The Brierley at Acklam Hall, let me tell you all about it…
My friend Katherine and I had been planning to come dine at Acklam Hall since the launch of the refurbishment, and after leaving it way too long we decided to book a table for lunch time. On arrival, we were shown to our table in a private afternoon tea dining area which was exquisite. The decor was elegant and the tables were beautifully laid.
Once we had chosen our selected Afternoon Tea (bearing in mind they were more than happy to make mine completely vegetarian!), we choose a blend of tea and a glass of Prosecco. We decided to go for the Strawberries and Cream tea, which was absolutely delicious!
Not long later, our afternoon tea arrived. Beautiful presented home made treats on the top, warm fruit and plain scones in the middle and traditional sandwiches on the bottom. They were kind enough to bring me my own plate of vegetarian sandwiches, including cheese savoury, cucumber and my all time favourite… cream cheese! The waitress kindly explained to us all of the treats on the top, and how we were the first to try this seasons delicacies. My favourite was the which chocolate moose.
Once we had polished off every piece of food on the plate, we decided to have a nosey around the rest of the hall. We came across gorgeous private dining rooms and the beautiful wedding venue as seen in the photo below. What a beautiful venue that I think will bring so much into Middlesbrough.
I give The Brierley a well deserved 9/10! Exquisite food and five star service. Don’t hesitate to book your table, I cannot wait to try their breakfast and evening menu!
