Yes, skincare again… and today I am talking about cleansers. Not just any cleansers, but 3 of my favourite balm cleansers, and why they are all so damn good…
If someone was to ask me what my favourite type of cleanser would be, I would 100% say a balm. Now I’m not saying there is anything wrong with gel cleansers, creamy cleansers, exfoliant cleansers etc, but there’s something about balm ones that make my skin so rejuvenated and hydrated.
If you’re not familiar with what a balm cleanser is, it’s a hard oil that when rubbed together, melts and turns into a… how can I say, vaseline texture? It feels so weird and wrong when applying it, it does take a few goes to get use to, but when removed with a warm muslin cloth… a dramatic change is noticed. Your skin feels so polished and perfected, ready for the next stage of your skincare routine. For the ladies, balm cleansers are also really effective for taking makeup off and helping it melt away whilst also cleaning your face. I also like to take my time massaging balms into my face, which actually helps me have a longer lasting sleep! Trust me it actually works! I would say cleansing balms are perfect for an evening cleanse, as you can take your time with these unlike on a morning when you are rushing around. For this I recommend creamy cleansers.
I’ve tried quite a few balm cleansers but today, I have narrowed it down to my favourite 3. Two are on the affordable scale and one slightly more expensive, but all amazing.
First of all I have the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm £22. This is my newest cleanser discovery, however it isn’t new to the market. This is loved by so many women as it melts away your makeup effortlessly. Although that is what it was purposely designed for, I love this cleanser for those days you feel a little grotty and dirty. It has quite a hard texture at first but once rubbed into the palm of your hand, turns into a milky wax.
Next is the Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter £13 This is very similar to the Clinique Balm, however the camomile helps calm your face, perfect for sunburnt or sensitive skin. You also don’t need much of the product on your fingers at all, because when it melts, it can cover a large amount of area when you start applying it to your face. This is far from a luxe product, but it is very well designed and does the job!
Finally my all time – much loved – swear by product, the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm £38. Once you’ve taken a deep breath after saying it, and apply it to your face, you will understand how luxurious and amazing it feels. If you’re looking for a fragrant, well put together piece of skincare, this is the one for you. It has an amazing soft oil texture that instantly melts into your hands and takes away any shit from your skin instantly. It also comes with an Emma Hardie Muslin Cloth, that has a soft side for easy removal and a slightly more abrasive side for a mild exfoliation. I can not recommend this product enough, and currently on my third tub of this bad boy. I literally cover my face in this as if I am not going to wake up tomorrow, it’s that amazing.
I hope this little insight to cleansing balms has opened your eyes to the cleanser world. I love love love these three products and I highly recommend trying out a balm. There are many more amazing products I’ve tried such as the Elemis Pro-Collagen Balm, Eve Lom Cleanser and the Balance Me Balm, but these three have to be my all time fav’s.
