When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.. right? Sometimes when life throws things at you, you sometimes aren’t prepared for it. Mentally, emotionality, physically. People are all different and circumstances can really knock you down in different ways. Some people shut themselves off. Some people open up. Some people get over it. Some people get under it, most of the time a duvet! But what I’ve learnt is when life gets hard, it’s the little things that count.
Open your eyes around you, what do you see? Your bedroom? Your family? Your pets? Your tub of Ben & Jerry’s? We all live in different surroundings.. which brings me to my story. The other day I was driving to work and on the radio, Pitbull’s newish song came on. Not only do I absolutely hate Pitbull (sorry any Pitbull lovers) but what was most frustrating was I actually liked the song. Now half the time you cant understand a word he is saying, but he said one little line that made me think, “Every day above ground is a good day”. Cliche I know, but strangely true. Going back to when you open your eyes. I’m grateful I have a roof under my head, a fantastic Mother, my pooch and food in my cupboards.
You can’t speed up the process of feeling better, but you can make it a little bit easier by appreciating the good in what you already have. A little deep than my usual content, but I hope this little bit of advice can go a long way for some of you reading this.
